Margao: In a fervent appeal the president of the Indian Medical Association in Goa, Dr S Samuel Arawattigi has impressed on the Chief Minister of Goa Dr Pramod Sawant to follow the lockdown protocol initiated by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in Goa.
This appeal has come post the shocking decision of the Chief Minister of Goa to keep shops and groceries supplying essential commodities open in the state, after persistent and nagging appeal from some people to make essential commodities through shops and groceries, available in different constituencies in Goa.
When GoaChronicle.com, Founder & Editor-in-Chief spoke to Dr. Samuel, he expressed fear over the lack of social distancing that could occur on account of people going out to shops and groceries to buy essential commodities.
He expressed, “We are currently at stage two of the pandemic. We must be careful that we do not head into stage three which is a community spread. Then the spread of the virus will be difficult to contain at a community level. We also do not have the facilities in the state at different hospitals in terms of masks, gloves, gowns to deal with a rapid spread of the pandemic. Therefore, people must maintain social distance and stay at home.”
