Prime Minister likely to virtually greet people of Bengal to mark Mahasasti on Thursday

Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address virtually the people of West Bengal to mark Maha Sasthi on Thursday during unveiling of the Goddess Durga idol at the EZCC in Salt Lake.

“On the occasion of Durga Puja Prime Minister Shree Narendra Modiji will greet the people of Bengal and virtually come live on the official social page @ BJP4Bengal”, party’s national general secretary and in-charge of Bengal Kailash Vijayvargiya said in his twitter account today.

Meanwhile, final touch was being given at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, where BJP’s women wing, for the first time is organising the five-day Durga puja.

Traditional pot painters were busy working overtime to give final touches on the walls painting Rama, Sita and Laxmana and putting new coat of colors on high arches of the auditorium at the EZCC.

The BJP, aiming to win the 2021 assembly poll in the state, chose the festive occasion to connect the people at a time when the pandemic has become a stumble block to keep in touch with the general masses.

Incidentally Narendra Modi is the face of BJP poll campaign in West Bengal since his elevation to the post of Prime Minister in 2014.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s address will be streamed live at EZCC at 10 am on Thursday’ where top leaders of the state and scores of women activists will be attending to listen to their leader,” said a BJP leader.

The party will also set up giant screens in several parts of the state to broadcast his speech.
Various cultural programmes, including folk dances to be held virtually at the EZCC where Dona Ganguly, wife of BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, is expected to take part in the dancing.

Dona Ganguly is a well-known Odissi danseuse, and her troupe will be performing at the inauguration ceremony.
