Prince Jacob, noted tiatrist and a popular Rj was felicitated on Sunday 19th September for completing 25 years on the Konkani stage as he had made his debut in khell tiatr beginning with Roseferns before launching his own production house – Prince Jacob Production.
Speaking on the occasion, PWD Minister Churchill Alemao who was the guest, said he enjoyed Prince Jacob’s productions because he always has a message to give to the public.
“Jacob criticizes politicians in his plays and that is good as if there was no criticism then people would not realize what is happening and the politicians would think that there is no one to question them,” he said.
In the last 25 years that he has been on the Konkani stage, Prince Jacob has many firsts to his credit. He is the first tiatrist to officially adapt a Marathi natak ‘Sahi re Sahi’ into Konkani which was titled Rupnnem. His tiatr ‘Padri’ based on the life of a priest has been made into a film while another tiatr based on the life of a nun had a record run in Goa.
“My latest production Kednam Utt’ttolo? Is a reflection of what is happening in the Goan society today where the politicians are taking Goans for a ride and we Goans are not realizing the games that are being played,” he said.
The entire team involved in producing and staging Kednam Utt’ttolo was also felicitate and the programme was followed by the performing the tiatr.
