12 Congress legislators including ministers met on Monday morning at the official residence of PWD Minister Churchill Alemao at Panjim to decide about the medium of instruction issue.
The 12 MLAs were Churchill Alemao, his brother Urban Development Minister Joaquim Alemao, Water Resources Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues, Education Minister Babush Monserate, Power Minister Aleixo Sequeira, Deputy Speaker Mauvin Godinho, Agnelo Fernandes, Victoria Fernandes, Pratap Gawas, Francis Silveira and Babu Kavlekar.
The group decided to present a memorandum on Tuesday to All India Congress Committee General Secretary in charge of Goa Jagmeet Brar who is scheduled to arrive in the State on later in the day.
Ironically, the Education Minister who attended the meeting said that he stood by his stand announced on the floor of the house wherein he had stated that the government would not provide grants to English medium primary schools.
Churchill said that the group was standing by the demand of the people and expressed confidence that even Chief Minister Digambar Kamat will grant the people their wish.
