Protests were organized in different parts of Goa on Wednesday by Indian Against Corruption (IAC) and Bharat Swabhiman Trust (BST) volunteers against the government’s action against Baba Ramdev’s hunger strike at Ram Lila grounds in New Delhi.
A day long fast was observed at Dada Vaidya Chowk in Ponda where IAC convenor Dr. Dattaram Dessai asserted that the fight against corruption will continue.
Mahableshwar Sawant who was present at Ram Lila ground when the police swooped down on the peaceful demonstrators, narrated his harrowing experience and the police high handedness.
The Pilerne Citizens Forum (PCF) observed a day long hunger strike near Shantadurga Temple at Moikawado in Pilerne. Manikprabhu D Kanekar of PCF opined that the government should have acted on Ramdev’s demand to get the Indian black money stashed abroad instead of retaliating against the demonstrators.
The Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) observed a day long hunger strike at Shirodkar Hall in Bicholim. The fast culminated with a public meeting that was addressed by MLA Rajesh Patnekar, BVP President Guruprasad kapadi and others.
At Margao a dharna was held at the entrance to the Margao Municipal Council from 10 am to 5 pm.
