PSIs charge-sheeted for rape, extortion & trespass cases hired by Goa Police

In a shocking revelation through a Right to Information (RTI) document furnished by the Office Superintendent, Public Information Officer, Administrative Branch, DGP Office, GoaChronicle.com has learned that some of the newly appointed Police Sub-Inspectors (PSI) has been charge-sheeted by the Goa Police itself for crimes of rape, extortion and trespass.

In a question asked through RTI which stated, ‘Whether any of the selected candidates for Police Sub-Inspectors in Goa Police were charge-sheeted by the Goa Police for rape, extortion and trespass case. The reply received is as follows, “As per information furnished by the Head Clerk (CA), Administrative Branch of DGP’s Office, the answer is yes.”

With crimes in the state rising at alarming rates it is disturbing to note that the state administration is hell bent in criminalizing the police department by recruiting such personnel that are charge-sheeted for heinous crimes. If the state government does not take action in weeding out criminals from within the police department this government has no authority to continue as people’s representatives,” expressed Jitendra Deshprabhu, former MLA and Congress spokesperson.
