PSLV-C47 successfully launches CARTOSAT-3, 13 US nano satellites
Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh), Nov 27 (GCCurrentAffairs) In a flawless and textbook mission, ISRO’s wokhorse launch vehicle PSLV-C47 today successfully launched the 1,625 kg Cartosat-3–the third generation agile advanced earth observation satellite–and 13 nano satellites from the US into the desired orbit.
After a smooth 26 hour countdown, the PSLV-C47 took off majestically from the Second Launch Pad at 0928 hrs from the SHAR Range here and about 17 minutes after the lift off, Cartosat-3, with a mission life of five years, was first injected into a 509 kg Polar Sun Synchronous Orbit with an inclination of 97 deg to the equator.
It was followed by the separation and injection of 13 nano satellites in a span of another eight minutes, thereby crossing a significant milestone of launching 300 foreign satellites from Indian soil.
