New Delhi, May 4 (GCCurrentAffairs) Countering Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for debating on corruption and unemployment, BJP said on Saturday that the public knows very well who is running after showing his back.
”Rahul Gandhi is not capable of debating with the Prime Minister as yet. We will send any of our spokespersons if he wants to debate. Public knows very well who is running after showing his back,” BJP spokesperson GVL Narsimha Rao said at a press conference here.
Challenging the Prime Minister for a debate on issues facing the country, Mr Gandhi said in a press conference said,”PM has no expertise, and he doesn’t use the experts they have… I told him, let’s debate, let’s debate on jobs, corruption, give me only 10 minutes, wherever you want but not at Anil Ambani’s house.”
Taking a jibe at the Prime Minister for holding a press conference, he said, ”It looks shameful as PM doesn’t have guts to do a press conference.”
On Mr Gandhi’s charge that the Prime Minister has been easy on terror, Mr Rao gave the example of recent serial blasts in Sri Lanka and said terror attacks were a setback for any country. But India has had an ‘enviable record’ under Mr Modi, he said and claimed that there has been no terror attack in ‘any major state’ since Mr Modi came to power in 2014.
He said the Congress was also losing its relevance today, adding that ”Congress is facing an existential crisis in this election.”
Earlie, addressing an electoral rally in Pratapgarh district in Uttar Pradesh, Mr Modi said that the party which had claimed to be in the race for the PM’s post, has now accepted that it was fighting elections only to ‘cut votes’ in Uttar Pradesh.
Mr Modi said that this was testimony enough to know how much the Congress had fallen.
The Prime Minister also said, “Namdaar, this arrogance will cost you heavily. This country forgives mistakes but not deceit.”
