The incessant rains lashing Goa and Maharashtra the last few days took its toll on the Konkan Railway Corporation as traffic on its route was thrown out of gear.
A protection wall near Nivar station in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra came crashing down on the tracks thereby disrupting movement on the route.
Goa bound passengers who were stranded were later transported to the State by buses.
Ironically, the wall that crumbled was built recently according to sources in the KRC.
Meanwhile, KRC spokesperson Baban Ghatge said trains have been halted at various stations and KRC has begun the work of clearing the tracks.
In fact, since its commissioning, the Konkan Railway route has been plagued with landslides during every monsoon and the KRC is today being recognized as experts in clearing landslides.
