The one day international match between India and Australia that was to be played at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Fatorda on Sunday was abandoned due to rains.
Although Sunday dawned bright and sunny, the incessant rains of the last few days had done the damage to the ground as the outer field was too wet.
On Saturday, the umpires of the match inspected the ground and reserved their decision till 9 am on Sunday. After inspecting the grounds it was decided to commence the match at 11 am and restrict it to only 30 overs.
However, the cloudy weather that followed the promising bright dawn resulted in the match being called off at around noon.
Disappointed fans were seen returning home with long faces even though they have been promised a full refund of the money they paid for the tickets, which incidentally was covered by the insurance for Goa Cricket Association.
