Panaji: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday visited Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital here to enquire about health of Union Minister Shripad Naik.
Upon his arrival at Goa International Airport at Dabolim in South Goa, he was received by Goa Minister of Transport, Panchayats, Housing, Protocol and Hospitality, and Legislative Affairs, Mauvin Godinho.
A statement from Chief Ministers Office (CMO), Mr Singh along with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant visited Goa Medical College and Hospital to enquire about the health of Union Minister Mr Naik.
As informed by doctors, Naik was responding well to the treatment and his health parameters continued to be stable, the statement added.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Mr Naik, Mr Singh said doctors of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Goa Medical College would take decision on shifting of Mr Naik to New Delhi.
Mr Singh congratulated doctors of GMC for taking prompt action for treatment of Mr Naik who was injured in a road accident in Karnataka late on Monday.
Mr Naik’s wife Vijaya Naik and personal secretary Deepak Ghume had succumbed to injuries. His driver and a personal security officer are undergoing treatment at the GMC, located near the city.
Mr Singh also paid a visit to the residence of Union Minister of State for Defence and AYUSH (Independent Charge) Shripad Naik along with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and other Bharatiya
Janata Party (BJP) leaders.
Later, BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaj Hussain also visited GMC to enquire about health of Shripad Naik.
