Mumbai, Aug 16 (GCEntertainment) Veteran Bollywood actress Vidya Sinha, known for films like Rajnigandha and Pati, Patni Aur Woh, passed away on Thursday in a city hospital following a brief illness.

She was 71, and is survived by a daughter.

The actress was diagnosed with lung disorder a few years ago, but her condition worsened over past three months. She was admitted to Criticare Hospital at Juhu in a serious condition early this week, where she died during treatment Thursday noon.

Born in Mumbai on November 15, 1947, to film producer Rana Pratap Singh, she started her professional career as a model and even had won the Miss Bombay contest.

She made her film debut with renowned filmmaker Basu Chatterjee’s film Rajnigandha, alongside Amol Palekar, in 1974, post-marriage.

She married Venkateshwaran Iyer in 1968, and the couple has a daughter, Jhanvi.

After her husband’s death in 1996, she quit acting for some time, before she entered into a wedlock with Netaji B Salunkhe, a doctor, in 2001. However, her second marriage was short-lived, as her husband allegedly tortured her for money, and ended in divorce in 2009.

After the hiatus, she made a comeback in television serials like Kavyanjali, Bahu Rani, Zaara, Bhabhi, Qubool Hai, Zindagi Wins and her most recent show Kulfi Kumar Bajewala.
