New Delhi, Jul 9 (IECurrentAffairs) The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday was adjourned twice, the second time till 1400 hrs amid the Congress and All India Trinamool Congress(AITC) protest over the Karnataka political crisis and disinvestment of Public Sector Units.
Proceedings of the ‘Zero Hour’ and ‘Question Hour’ in the House were suspended for the first time in this session.
As the House reassembled at 1200 hrs after first adjournment, Deputy Chairman Harivansh tried to initiate the Question Hour but AITC Members trooped into well after the Chairman disallowed the AITC lawmaker to raise the disinvestment issue.
”The Chairman allowed the Congress to raise the Karnataka crisis in the Question Hour, I request you all to take your seat and let the proceedings begin. This House has been working smoothly in this session so do not disrupt it now”, Mr Harivansh said.
But the AITC Members refused to budge and continued protesting in the well.
The Deputy Chairman then adjourned the House till 1400 hrs.
Earlier also, soon after the laying of the papers, the House was adjourned due to protests of Congress and AITC lawmakers over the same issues for an hour.
Mr Naidu had allowed BK Hariprasad of Congress to raise the Karnataka political crisis during Question Hour but refused the AITC Members to discuss the disinvestment issue as that was already discussed on June 21.
