New Delhi: The Government on Wednesday decided to adjourn Rajya Sabha Sine die after disposing of pending legislative business.
Making a statement in the House, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs V Muraleedharan said, ‘I’ve to inform the members that the Government has decided to recommend adjournment of the House sine die today.
But some important legislative business passed by Lok Sabha has to be disposed of before the adjournment.’
Speaking on the matter, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said, ‘The government can recommend the adjournment of the House, but when to adjourn is the chair’s decision.’
Several members of Parliament have urged the Speaker for early adjournment of Parliament due to rising number of Covid cases.
The Parliament was earlier scheduled to continue till October 1.
The Upper House is expected to sit till Wednesday evening to dispose of pending legislative business.
