Puducherry: Former Lok Sabha member from Puducherry Prof M Ramadass on Thursday demanded the Constitution of a committee under a sitting judge, with members from different departments, to go into the Thuthipet cricket stadium issue.
It may be noted that, alleging encroachment of government’s poramboke land and water bodies for the setting up of the cricket stadium, Lt.Governor Kiran Bedi had initiated action against the private party which developed the stadium and sent notice to it.
In a statement here, Prof Ramadass said that, finding the truth, the committee should recommend for action against the private party and at the same time, should give suggestions to utilize the infrastructure developed by it to develop the skills of youths and the government should accept the recommendation and take steps for the development of Cricket in the Union Territory.
Strongly criticizing Congress legislator E Theepanjan for putting up a road blockade at Pathukannu junction with his supporters to protest against the Lt Governor for her action against the stadium promoters, he said the promoters, if they are clean could move the Court and get justice.
Pointing out the pending issues in his Oussudu Assembly constituency, Prof Ramadass wondered whether Mr Theepanjan had ever put up a road blockade for the resolution of problems in his constituency.
