GOA, Jan 2 (CurrentAffairs): Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has accused Congress of falsely involving him in the controversy surrounding Rafale deal through fake audio clip in which he is heard claiming that Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has files of Rafale deal with him due to which he continues to be in the chair of the CM.
Rane told reporters that he has already informed BJP National President Amit Shah to inquire into this audio.
He said that he has already written to the Chief Minister asking for the probe by State Crime Branch or Police to investigate into this fake audio tape.
The Congress Wednesday demanded answers from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s purported claim that he had a file on Rafale “lying in his bedroom” and asked if this was the reason why a joint parliamentary committee probe was not being ordered.
Party’s Chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala came out with a conversation purportedly between Goa minister Vishwajit Rane and another person.
“Today’s voice note which is being circulated is absolutely absurd and illogical which is being talked about,” Rane told reporters in Panaji on Wednesday.
Rane said that he has informed Shah and the CM about the audio which is being circulated to the media.
“Congress has been targeting me. This time they are using me as a pawn for their attack on BJP. Rafale is a national issue and I, as a State minister, has no role to play into it,” Rane said.
He said that there has been never any kind of discussion on this issue between him and the chief minister. “Most importantly from the time I have joined BJP, Congress has been targeting me,” the minister claimed.
“I have always been considered as a big threat to them (Congress). Most importantly as far as Congress party is concerned when two MLAs resigned from the Congress and joined BJP, that time also they were after me and today the voice notes which they are circulating has been made up by the congress party,” he said referring to resignations of MLAs Subhash Shirodkar and Dayanand Sopte last year.
“Let them (Congress) come out with the source. I have asked CM for detailed inquiry through the police and also voice should be sent for checking. This is absolutely non sense, there has never been a discussion on this subject,” he said adding “Congress has started the year by creating controversy by targeting Manohar Parrikar.”
Rane demanded that the central agencies should inspect the audio tape so that it would be clear that the voice is not of his.
“Now there are technologies which can be used to change the voice. I want the truth to come out and the persons behind this audio should be punished,” he said.
Meanwhile, Rane in his letter to the Chief Minister has said “at no point of time there has been a discussion between me and any other individual.”
“There should be a thorough enquiry in this matter and I would like to once again inform the Hon’ble Chief Minister that there is someone playing mischief and there should be a through enquiry in this matter and such mischievous elements needs to be booked,” the letter reads.
