Panaji: The police in Goa raided a rave party at a hotel in Vagator, a costal village in North Goa, on early Sunday and seized drugs worth Rs nine lakh besides arresting 23 persons, including foreign nationals.
According to police, the raid was conducted after information was received that a rave party was underway.
Cocaine, MDMA, Ecstasy Tablets and Charas were seized after the raid, the police said, adding the organisers and attendees were booked organising the party during the coronavirus pandemic as well as violating sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Meanwhile, Goa Foward Party (GFP) criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and demanded a full time home minister in the state.
In a statement, former Minister Vinod Paleykar said,“I have been time and again saying that Rave parties are going on full wing in Coastal Belt of the state. Local policemen are bribed. It’s a high time that Anjuna Police station be fully revamped including the Police Inspector. State needs full time Home Minister as Chief Minister Sawant’s focus is on mining transportation. CM has failed in curtailing crime in the state. Lobo can perform better as Home Minister.”
