The results of Secondary School Certificate Examinations declared by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education on Tuesday recorded the highest ever passing percentage till date.
Though the first three rankers at the board were girls, overall the boys did better with 80.75 per cent of them clearing the exams while the passing percentage of girls was slightly lower at 79.87 per cent.
Incidentally, all three first rankers were from schools in Margao. The first ranker was Daksha Atish Naik from Fatima Convent High School who scored 95.83 per cent followed by Samrudhi Gajanan Bandodkar from Presentation Convent High School who scored 95.06 per cent and the third ranker was Risha Milind Hegde from Bhatikar Model High School, Housing Board, Gogol who scored 94.8 per cent.
Of the 15,329 students who appeared for the exams, 13,191 passed thereby giving a passing percentage of 86.05 per cent which is the highest achieved by the board till date.
As many as 41 schools including nine government schools achieved cent per cent results which another first for the board.
The Navelim centre recorded the highest passing percentage of 92.72 per cent, while the lowest passing percentage was recorded at Dharbandora where 71.37 per cent of the students passed.
