Panaji, Oct 10 (GCCurrentAffairs) : The opposition Congress in Goa on Wednesday called on Governor Mridula Sinha at Raj Bhavan and urged her to issue directions to Chief Secretary and Director General of Police to investigate the complaint it had lodged on October 3 and 4 against Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, his predecessor Laxmikant Parsekar and other state officials.
In a memorandum submitted to the Governor, Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar and Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar said, a detailed complaint dated 04/10/2018 was filed against Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Secretary Mines Pawan Kumar Sain, Director of Mines and Geology Prassana Acharya and Secretary to Chief Minister Krishna Murthy for ‘having committed illegalities and offences as prescribed under the penal law in force by hurriedly resorting to en masse second renewals of Mining leases.”
”The copy of the said complaint is annexed here for your kind perusal. You are therefore requested to direct the Hon’ble Chief Secretary/ Chief Vigilance Officer of the State and the Director General of Police to investigate the same and oblige,” the memorandum said.Earlier, the party had registered a complaint to Director General of Police and Chief Secretary demanding a criminal investigation into the alleged ‘mining lease renewal scam’ and registration of an FIR against Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and his predecessor Laxmikant Parsekar, among others.
