The family members of Reshma Korgaonkar who died under mysterious circumstances six months ago, have accused the police of not proceeding with the case even though directed by the Magistrate as the death occurred within seven years of her marriage.
Reshma Korgaonkar was found hanging from the roof of her in-law’s house at Saligao on 23rd November. Her sister Nilima Anerkar pointed out that though six months have passed, the police are yet to file the charge-sheet in the case.
Police had then arrested Reshma’s husband Sagar Korgaonkar and her mother-in-law Chandrawati Korgaonkar who are now out on bail.
Nilima pointed out that there were several bruise marks on Reshma’s body which had made them suspect that she was hanged to death and further pointed out that the bruise marks are reflected in the post mortem report.
She said that every time they visited the Calangute police station to check the progress of the investigations, they are being shunted from one office to another.
However, Calangute Police Inspector Manjunath Dessai said the police were awaiting the viscera report which he said is crucial to determine the direction of the investigation. He also disclosed that a handwriting expert’s report is sought to confirm that the suicide note was written by Reshma.
Once these reports are received, he police will be in a position to decide whether it was a case of murder or suicide, said Dessai.
