Respond to High Court order in ‘National Herald’ case: BJP urges Rahul, Sonia Gandhi

New Delhi, Dec 22 (GCCurrentAffairs) The BJP on Saturday challenged Congress top leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to respond to the Delhi High Court orders on ‘The National Herald’ newspaper properties case.

“The way in which public property, costly land is being misused by the family trust of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi along with their family members have been confirmed by a judgement of the Delhi High Court,” BJP leader and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.

“The court has taken cognizance of their ‘garbaddi (wrong doings)’ and made comments on it. The massive irregularity in the scam in the appropriation of public premises by Soniaji and Rahul Gandhi family has been also found questionable by the court,” he said.

The Minister said: “Congress President Rahul Gandhi is asking us these days about Rafale. He is asking us questions even after the verdict from the Supreme Court. Our question to Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi is, please respond to this court order”.

“You must tell the nation that how properties worth Rs 50,000 crore resting on government allocated land was transferred to a family-run trust,” Mr Prasad said.

The Delhi High Court on Friday ordered the Congress party to vacate the decades-old Herald House, which belongs to the party’s mouthpiece ‘National Herald’.

The central government had earlier sent an eviction notice to the Associated Journals Limited (AJL), the new owner of National Herald, arguing that it had violated the lease agreement under which it was rented Herald House.
