Kanpur: The Chief General Manager of the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) Arun Mishra was arrested by Kanpur’s Chakeri police on Tuesday.
The construction work for the three-kilometer road going through the Pali village from Prayagraj National Highway to the Chakeri Industrial area had been done by UPSIDA in the year 2009. The PWD had constructed the 1,940 meter road.
However, by stating that the road made by PWD was among their share of the construction work, the UPSIDA officials showed that the work was complete and passed a bill of 2 crore, 11 lakh rupees.
After he came to know about this, UPSIDA’s then Managing Director Iftekharuddin had registered a case related to corruption at the Chakeri police station in 2012 wherein a FIR pertaining to corruption had been registered against Messrs Kartik Enterprises by the then Executive Engineer Ajit Singh, Assistant Engineer Nagendra Singh and Junior Engineer SK Verma.
During the course of the police investigation, Chief General Manager Arun Kumar Mishra was also found guilty and hence, his name was also added to the FIR. Arun Mishra had paid the money to the firm without investigating anything about it and his involvement was also coming to the fore. Directions had been given for his arrest and a team had also been constituted for the same.
The team arrested him near Rama Devi on Tuesday. Other accused are also to be arrested in the corruption case.
