Mumbai: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has seized around 3 Kg of cocaine worth Rs 18 crore in international market at the city’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and arrested a male passenger travelling from Dubai in this connection.
Acting on a specific information, the DRI officials intercepted the passenger, Moussa Camara, a national of Republic of Guinea, aged around 34 years, who was travelling from Addis Ababa to Mumbai via Dubai, at the Mumbai Airport on Tuesday and seized 2.935 Kg of cocaine approximately worth Rs 18 crore from him, which was concealed in the false bottom of his trolley bag, during the check.
The officials seized the contraband and arrested Camara under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, an official release stated here on Wednesday.
He was today produced before the Magistrate court, which sent him into judicial custody up to December 8, 2020.
This is one of the biggest haul of cocaine at Mumbai airport in recent times and the second seizure of cocaine by the DRI within two successive days. On Tuesday, DRI officers had seized 1 Kg cocaine and arrested one female Malawi national in this connection.
Last week, DRI had arrested 4 people, including two Nigerian nationals, in a case involving seizure of 502 grams of cocaine, the release added.
