Panjim: Goa Assembly on Monday passed the state budget amidst noisy scenes by the opposition benches.
Earlier, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat had moved an Adjournment Motion but Speaker did not allow it.
Though opposition members insisted for the adjournment motion due to COVID-19 pandemic, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant passed the budget estimated to be of Rs 22,000 crore.
While opposition members demanded that the budget be deferred to next date, Chief Minister said that the government was ready to make statement on COVID-19 after the business in the House was taken up.
Disallowing the adjournment motion, Speaker Rajesh Patnekar said such a motion could be allowed only when there was a failure on the part of the government.
The Houses also passed financial business during the one day session
