RTI activist Rajan Ghate attacked allegedly for not accepting a bribe offered

Panaji November 26 (GCCurrentAffairs): Police tonight arrested a man for allegedly attacking RTI activist Rajan Ghate who is on fast unto death demanding resignation of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Ghate said that he was attacked by unknown assailant at the hunger strike around 11 p.m., who also offered him a bribe of Rs five crore to withdraw the fast.

“He offered to deposit Rs 5 crore in my bank account in exchange of withdrawing the fast. He attacked me when I refused his offer,” said the RTI activist who is on the fast for last ten days at Azad Maidan in Panjim.

Some of the supporters of Ghate who are camping with him at Azad Maidan called police, who took into custody the assailant.

He was taken to the police station.
