Salgaocar Sports Club Juniors won the NIKE-Manchester United Premier Cup 2011 by defeating Mumbai Football Club by 5-4 on Bharti Vidyapeeth Grounds, Pune.
In the 17th minute, N Roger, with a solo run, scored the first goal for Mumbai FC
Later, Mumbai FC resorted to rough physical tactics to keep Salgaocars at bay. Bruised and battered, the gritty Goan boys fought back to bring the equalizer in the last minute of the second half through striker Myron Borges.
Match results were decided through a tie breaker in which Myron Borges, Aliston fernandes, Vishal Gaokar, Aldrich coelho and Jesus de Souza scored for the Goans.
Salgaocar Sports Club was the only team from Goa accompanied by Coach Augustine Antao, Manager Anthony Noronha and Technical Director Mariano Dias.
With this win, Salgaocar Juniors have been qualified to participate in the Asian championship to be held in Bangkok, Thailand which will sponsored by NIKE and Manchester United Football Club.
