Sanatan Sanstha member detained in Dabholkar killing investigations

The Pune police team detained an 28-year-old Sanatan Sanstha member Sandeep Shinde from the organization’s Goa headquarters in connection with anti-superstition activist Narendra Dabholkar’s murder on August 20.

Police said he was being brought to Pune for questioning. They said he is from Pune and had joined the Sanstha in 2008 as a ‘sadhak’ (devotee). He has since been with the organization at the Goa headquarters.

Goa Sanatan Sanstha head Virendra Marathe said, “Police came specifically in search of one of our members. We offered that he should be questioned in the ashram but they decided to take him to Pune.”

Marathe claimed the man was in Goa when Dabholkar was murdered while on his morning walk.

The NIA had earlier questioned him in connection with a bomb blast at Margao in Goa in 2009.
