RIYADH, May 30 (GCCurrentAffairs) Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud warned on Thursday that Iran’s development of nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities would threaten regional and global security.
He made the remarks at an emergency summit of Gulf Cooperation Council in Mecca on Thursday night that Tehran’s actions threatened international maritime trade and global oil supplies in a “violation of UN treaties,” Al Arabiya TV reported.
“We will work together to face all challenges. The Iranian regime has been interfering in other countries’ affairs, developing their nuclear programs and threatening international navigation,” the king told the summit in an opening speech.
He added that Saudi Arabia is keen on the security and stability of the region, calling for Gulf, Arab and Islamic summits in Mecca to discuss global coordination for the best solutions to the regional tensions.
