New Delhi: The Supreme on Monday rejected a bunch of petitions filed by Tamil Nadu government seeking 50 per cent OBC reservation in the state for All India Quota (AIQ) seats in the state-run medical colleges this academic year.
“We reject the petition(s) in the case. We decline to pass any order and direction in the matter”, a three-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by Justice L Nageswara Rao said, in its verdict.
The Apex Court passed the judgement after hearing a petition jointly filed by Tamil Nadu, AIADMK and others for 50 per cent OBC reservation in state seats in PG medical courses.
The bench, also comprising Justices Hemant Gupta and Ajay Rastogi, passed the verdict, through video conferencing.
Tamil Nadu, AIADMK and others had approached the Top Court seeking appropriate directions or orders for 50 per cent OBC in state seats in PG medical courses.
