SC rejects plea to appoint govt nominees in trust to build Mosque in Ayodhya

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a plea seeking direction to nominate the Central and State governments’ representatives to the Indo Islamic Cultural Foundation trust which was founded for building a Mosque in Ayodhya.

A Bench headed by Justice R F Nariman dismissed the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filled by advocates Shishir Chaturvedi and K K Shukla. The Bench, also comprising Justice K M Joseph, said representatives from the Centre or State governments would not be inducted into the Trust.

The petitioners sought to include representatives from the Centre and State governments into the Indo Islamic Cultural Foundation trust on the lines of the Ram Mandir Trust in Ayodhya.
