The Supreme Court of India will hear only urgent matters with effect from April 22, 2021.
A circular to that effect was published by the top court stating that the concerned Advocate-on-Record or party in person will have to send aa signed and verified mentioning application along with a one-page synopsis explaining urgency in the matter
The matter thus mentioned may be listed the next day subject to approval from the competent authority and based on availability of the Bench.
As per the circular, matters like Habeas Corpus, anticipatory bail or death penalty would be some of the grounds for urgent listing.
Further, Regular Courts and the Registrar Courts shall not sit from April 22, onwards till further orders; and a separate circular is being issued with respect to sitting of the courts.
The Court has also cancelled the matters shown in the final cause lists of miscellaneous matters and regular hearing matters for April 22. The same have been adjourned indefinitely.
