Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police and Amy personnel thwarted a militant attempt to smuggle in arms and ammunition from forward area in border town of Karnah in the frontier district when they unearthed a hideout and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition , a police spokesman said Saturday afternoon.
He said acting on a specific information Police and Army (2 JAT) conducted a joint operation in forward Jabdi Tangdhar area under police station Karnah.
During the operation, security forces unearthed a hideout and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition, including three AK 47 rifles, six magazines and four pistols with nine magazines.
He said with this recovery, security forces thwarted militant attempt to smuggle in arms and ammunition from the border area to towns.
He said a case has been registered in PS Karnah and investigation taken up.
The timely recovery of huge cache of arms and ammunition has thwarted any possible untoward incident in otherwise peaceful region and has scuttled the nefarious plans of militant outfits to try derailing peace and harmony.
However, no one has been arrested.
