Raipur: Senior journalist of Chhattisgarh and Editor of Pioneer Hindi in Raipur Mohan Rao passed away in Hyderabad last night. He was 65.
Rao, who was suffering from a liver disease, was undergoing treatment in Raipur. In view of deterioration of his condition, he was brought to Hyderabad where he was admitted. He died due to cardiac arrest last night in Hyderabad.
He left behind his wife and a married daughter. His mortal remains would be brought to Raipur by road this evening.
The last rights would be performed after arrival of his daughter from abroad tomorrow morning.
Rao worked on senior position for a long time in local Hindi daily ‘Nava Bharat’. After his retirement from Nava Bharat he took over the charge of Editor in Pioneer Hindi, Raipur.
He was active throughout his life and known as meritorious journalist in political and power circles. Rao continued to work for the welfare of journalists during the previous Jogi and Raman governments. Residential colony of journalists ‘Media City’ could be developed on the initiative of Mr Rao. He also made efforts for medical insurance and pension to the journalists. He was very popular among local journalists and also among journalists of national media working in the state.
