Sensex down 1145.44 pts

Mumbai: Extending losses for the fifth consecutive session on Monday, the BSE Sensex tumbled down 1145.44 points to settle at 49,744.32 on weak global cues.

The Nifty too fell 306.05 points to 14,675.70.

Weak global cues, rising bond yields, amid fears of Covid-19-led lockdown came to haunt the bulls on the Street.

The day began on a positive note as the Sensex rose 97 points at 50,986.03 and it was day’s high, later it dropped nearly 1272 points to 49,617.37, day’s low before closing at 49,744.32, sliding 1145.44 points from its previous close.

The Sensex registered day’s high and low at 50,986.03 and 49,617.37 points respectively.

The Nifty recorded day’s high and low at 15,010.10 and 14,635.05 points.

The sectoral indices like Energy, Realty, Technology, Metal and IT stocks kept the market under pressure. Even scrips like Dr Reddy, M& M, Tech Mahindra and Axis Bank too remained negative.

The Mid Cap fell by 1.34 per cent and Small Cap by 1.01 per cent.

In 30 scrips, four advanced while 26 declined.
