Mumbai: The BSE sensex on Wednesday nosedived 561.45 points to settle below 35K level to 34,868.98, snapping a gaining streak of last four sessions, on selling in Bankex, Telecom, Finance and Realty stocks ahead of the expiry of June series derivative contracts on Thursday.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too slid by 165.70 points to 10,305.30.
The Nifty recorded day’s high and low at 10,553.15 and 10,281.95 points respectively.
High volatility was seen in the equity market, as the Sensex surged 249 points to open at 35,679.74 points. It shot up 276 points to 35,706.55, day’s high before closing at 34,868.98, sliding by 561.45 points from its previous close.
Meanwhile, it lost by 636 points to 34,794.93, day’s low.
The sectoral indices include Bankex, Telecom, Finance, Realty and power stocks dragged the market.
In scrips, Indus Ind Bank, Powergrid, Asian Paints, SBI. And Bharti Airtel erased earlier gains, broker informed.
The Mid Cap was eased by 1.08 percent and Small cap by 1.24 percent.
In 30 scrips, 6 advanced while 24 declined.
