Mumbai: The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Thursday slipped by 135 pts to 33,974.75, in opening trade on profit by local operators at a higher level ahead of the F&O (futures & options) weekly expiry.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too fell by 39 pts to 10,022.40.
The sectoral indices like Realty, Consumer Durable, Power and Finance dragged the market in early trade.
The Sensex registered intraday high and low at 34,310.14 and 33,974.75 pts respectively.
The Nifty registered intraday high and low at 10,123.85 and 10,022.40 pts respectively.
The midcap was up by 0.53 pc and small-cap by 0.31 pc.
Of 30 scrips, 18 advanced while 12 declined.
The losers were Titan by 2.74 pc to Rs 957, Kotak Bank by 1.87 pc to Rs 1361.70, HDFC by 1.85 pc to Rs 1802.25, ONGC by 1.45 pc to Rs 84.90 and Asian Paints by 1.03 pc to Rs 1698.65.
The gainers were Tech Mahindra by 3.46 pc to Rs 572.05, Sun Pharma by 2.86 pc to Rs 489.65 and Tata Steel by 1.45 pc to Rs 322.10.
Today, a total of 15 companies including DLF, PI Industries, and SRF are scheduled to announce their March quarter results.
