Mumbai: Snapping a winning streak of last four sessions, the BSE Sensex on Wednesday fell by 37.38 pts to settle at 38,369.69 on profit booking by local operators at higher level.
The nifty of national stock exchange eased by 14.10 pts to 11,308.40. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 11,322 and 11,242.65 pts respectively.
The day opened in red, as the Sensex dropped by 86 pts to 38,321.13. During the day, it tumbled down nearly 282 pts to 38,125.81, days low before closing at 38,369.69, easing by 37.38 pts from its previous close.
The sectoral indices that dragged the market were Health Care, Consumer Durable, Metal, Realty and Telecom stocks.
However, buying in Consumer Discretionary Goods and services, Auto, Power and Utilities capped from further losses, broker informed.
In scrips, Kotak Bank, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv and L& T dropped.The Mid Cap fell by 0.26 pc and Small Cap too by 0.02 pc.
