Mumbai: A slight improvement was seen in the equity market on Tuesday as the BSE Sensex moved up by 42.07 pts at 49,201.39 following gains in Health Care, Industrials, Materials and Realty stocks.
The Nifty too rose by 45.70 pts to 14,683.50.
High volatility was witnessed today, sliding by 870 pts on Monday, the Sensex today jumped 282 pts to open at 49,441.13 pts. During the day it spurted 423 pts to 49,582.26, days high.
Later, it was tumbled down nearly 222 pts to 48,936.35, days low. In late trade it erased earlier losses and ended positive at 49,201.39, rising by 42.07 pts from its previous close.
The sensex registered days high and low at 49,582.26 and 48,936.35 pts respectively.
The Nifty recorded days high and low at
14,779.10 and 14,573.90 pts respectively.
The sectoral indices like Health Care, Industrials, Materials and Realty were ended in green.
In scrips, Asian Paints, Sun Pharma, Dr Reddy, Hind Unilever and HDFC increased while Powergrid, Axis Bank, Indusind Bank and Ultracemco slipped which capped from further gains, broker informed.
The Mid Cap rose by 1 pc and Small Cap by 0.84 pc.
In 30 scrips, 15 advanced, 14 declined and 1 unchanged.
