Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday spurted by 570 pts to 36,603.91 in the opening session on the back of strong global peers.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too rose by 156 pts to 10,763.35.The Sensex registered intraday high and low at 36,603.91 and 36,297.65 pts respectively.
The Nifty registered intraday high and low at 10,765.80 and 10,683.45 pts respectively.The Mid Cap was up by 0.93 pc and Small Cap by 1.13 pc.
The indices that kept the market strong for another day were IT, Bankex, Metal and Power.Infosys gained 2 per cent ahead of the announcement of its June quarter results later in the day.
Besides, Reliance Industries was also trading one per cent higher ahead of the company’s 43rd Annual General Meeting which will be held via videoconferencing later in the day.
Moreover, Wipro surged 14 per cent after reporting better-than-expected quarterly numbers.
Today, a total of 53 companies including Infosys, Bandhan Bank, and Larsen & Toubro Infotech, are scheduled to announce their quarterly results.
The gainers were Infosys by 5.34 pc to Rs 825, Tech Mahindra by 4.86 pc to Rs 627.30, Axis Bank by 4.71 pc to Rs 437.70 and IndusInd Bank by 2.93 pc to Rs 525.80.In 30 scrips, 28 advanced while 2 declined.
