Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday gained by 154 pts to 36,828.43 in opening trade on brisk buying in Materials, Finance Health Care and Metal stocks.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too rose by 48 pts to 10,847.85.
The Sensex registered intra days high and low at 36,828.43 and 36,608.99 pts respectively.
The sectoral indices that rallied were Finance, Health Care, Metal and Materials stocks.
The Nifty registered intra days high and low at 10,847.85 and 10,784.60 pts respectively.
The Mid Cap rose by 0.10 per cent and Small Cap was up by 0.25 per cent.
In 30 scrips, 12 advanced while 18 declined.
The gainers were Indusind Bank by 4.38 per cent to Rs 549.25, SBI by 1.99 per cent to Rs 192.30, Tata Steel by 1.77 per cent to Rs 196.50 and Nestle India by 1.07 per cent to Rs 17,072.75.
The losers were Infosys by 1.87 per cent to Rs 779.55, Bajaj Finance by 1.66 per cent to Rs 3297.05, Ultracemco by 1.63 per cent to Rs 3798 HCL Technologies by 1.61 per cent to Rs 582.40.
