Mumbai: Extending gains for another day on Tuesday, the BSE Sensex rose by 477.54 pts to close at 38,528.32 on brisk buying in Materials, Metal, Bankex, Realty and Consumer Durable stocks.
The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) moved up by 138.25 pts to close at 11,385.35.
The Nifty recorded the days high and low at 11,401.70 and 11,253.12 pts respectively.
The market remained in green throughout the day, as the Sensex opened higher by 34 pts to reach 38,084.70. It zoomed up by 521 pts to reach 38,571.27, the days high, before closing at 38,528.32, up by 477.54 pts as compared to its previous close.
In sectoral indices, Realty was a star gainer, up by more than four percent followed by Bankex, Materials, Metal, Consumer Durable and Finance stocks.
In scrips, Ultracemco, Kotak Bank, ICICI Bank, Asian Paints and HDFC Bank rallied. However, selling in Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, Bajaj Auto and Power capped further gains, broker informed.
The Mid Cap rose by 1.13 pc and Small Cap by 1.30 pc. In 30 scrips, 23 advanced, 6 declined while one remained unchanged.
