Sensex up by 93 points

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Friday rose by 93 pts to 40,275.80 following gains in Metal, Materials, Capital Goods and Industrials stocks ahead of RBI Monetary Policy.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too advanced by 32.15 pts to 11,866.75.

The Sensex registered intra days high and low at 40,322.14 and 40,204.31 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered intra days high and low at 11,880.55 and 11,844.20 respectively.

The Mid Cap moved up by 0.40 pc and Small Cap by 0.34 pc.

In 30 scrips, 23 advanced while 7 declined.

The gainers were Tata Steel by 2.69 pc to Rs 383.60, Bharti Airtel y 1.94 pc to Rs 432.75, M& M by 1.60 pc to Rs 644.20, L& T by 1.46 pc to Rs 893.90 and Bajaj Finance by 1.02 pc to Rs 3359.65.

The losing companies were Nestle India by 0.65 pc to Rs 16,194.20, TCS by 0.56 pc to Rs 2808.95, Reliance industries by 0.51 pc to Rs 2227.55 and Asian Paints by 0.29 pc to Rs 2084.55.
