Three footballers who have shined in the field after having gone through the Sesa Football Academy were felicitated at a function held recently with each of them being awarded Rs. 1 lakh for their contribution to the game.
The trio – Rowilson Rodrigues and Mickey Fernandes playing for Dempo Sporting Club and Denzil Franco of Churchill Brothers – were felicitated for having represented India in many tournaments.
Rowilson and Denzil represented India at the Lusofonia Games in Macau, SAFF cup, AFC Challenger Cup and Asian Games while Mickey played in the AFC Cup in Saudi Arabia and Delhi and also represented India in the six nation cup held in Canada.
Sesa Goa Ltd.’s Managing Director P K Mukherjee said the company was committed to the growth of Indian soccer and wanted to see India being recognized as a powerhouse in the game.
Sesa Football Academy promoted by Sesa Goa Limited has two academies – Junior level which commenced in June 1999 at Sanquelim and the senior level which started from June 2008 at Sirsaim.
