SESA faces heat over Govt Strictures

SESA is planning to close its plants at Amona. This is consequent to stoppage of Iron Ore transport from its Codli Mine in South Goa since the last one month on account of South Goa Collector’s order, which is a part of the ongoing measures being adopted by the Parrikar-led government to get stricter on mining in the state.

The situation is further aggravated with supply of Iron Ore from the neighboring state of Karnataka also become scarce and very costly due to closure of all mines in the state as per the Supreme Court Order and stocks getting sold in e-auction.

Sources in SESA state that the closure of these plants will have its consequences on the power supply to Goa, as the power plant based on the gases from this blast furnace/metcoke plant will also be closed.
