Sesa Goa has bagged the runners-up award for Best Corporate Social Responsibility Practice at the 6th Social and Corporate Governance Awards 2010 held at the International Conventional Hall, Bombay Stock Exchange, Mumbai.
Outrunning 27 shortlisted candidates, Sesa Goa won the runners up award for its Alternate Livelihood project (ALOP)-Karnataka which is aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of the rural communities in Chitradurga, Karnataka.
Sesa Goa team consisting of Leena Verenkar, Manager-Environment; Nilesh Zore, Senior Officer, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); Biradar, Senior Officer(CSR) and Dr. Dolli, Project Coordinator, presented short presentations on best practices in CSR across Sesa Group and Alternate Livelihood Opportunity Project in Chitradurga, Karnataka.
The award instituted by the Bombay Stock Exchange recognises and honours organisations for their contribution to the society. Sesa Goa was declared as one of the ten winners and presented this prestigious award based on its exceptional work in the field of best practices in CSR. In all, 126 companies participated out of which only 27 entries were shortlisted.
