The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a supplementary chargesheet before an NDPS Court (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) in Mapusa in the second police-drug peddler nexus case.
The supplementary charge sheet named seven police personnel from Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of State police, including the Deputy Superintendent of Police Naresh Mahamal, Sub-Inspector Sunil Gudlar and five constables. The police officials were accused of planting drugs on alleged drug dealer, an Israeli national David Driham alias Dudu.
On February 22, 2010, the ANC had arrested Dudu at Anjuna for alleged possession of drugs. The original charge sheet in this case was filed against Dudu before the NDPS Court subsequently. After allegations of planting of drugs by ANC cops surfaced, the case was handed over to the CBI which arrested five police constables on May 30, 2012 for allegedly planting drugs on Dudu. They were later released on a conditional bail. The investigation was completed by the CBI in January 2013.
The CBI also, simultaneously, probed another alleged police-politician drug mafia nexus case in September 2013 in which it is yet to file a charge sheet against Israeli drug dealer Yaniv Benaim alias Atala. Investigations reveals that the alleged drug dealer who claimed to have sold drugs in coastal belt of Goa by paying off ANC police. The drug-peddler ANC police nexus came to light compelling State police to act after Atala’s grild friend Lucky farmhouse uploaded a video on a social networking site in 2008 raising question marks over credibility of ANC of Goa Police.
