Sharad Pawar meets Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on Sachin Vaze suspension

Mumbai: NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar met CM Uddhav Thackeray on Monday at CM’s official ‘Varsha’ Bungalow, with Jt. Crime CP Milind Bharambe present.

The meeting which lasted for 45-50 minutes was preluded by a meeting of top NCP ministers Jayant Patil and Anil Deshmukh at NCP’s office.

Informed sources told that Thackeray has blamed NCP-led Home Ministry for mishandling the Vaze arrest. Several cabinet ministers Eknath Shinde and Anil Parab and Maharashtra Congress Chief Nan Patole too have reached Varsha Bungalow. Vaze – an encounter specialist who was suspended in 2004 for an alleged custodial death, was reinstated in 2020 by the Maharashtra government.

Earlier in the day, Mumbai police officer Sachin Vaze, who is currently in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the explosives found in a car outside Mukesh Ambani’s residence Antilia, has on Monday been suspended from service by the Mumbai city’s police force.

In light of the grave allegations against the cop levelled by former CM Devendra Fadnavis and amid the ongoing probe also into the alleged murder of the car’s owner Mansukh Hiren, Assistant Police Inspector (API) Vaze has been placed under suspension, on the order of Additional Commissioner of Police, Special Branch, said Mumbai Police PRO, S Chaitanya.
