New Delhi, Jan 23 (GCCurrentAffairs) On the birth anniversary of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray, the BJP accused its erstwhile ally of surrendering to appeasement politics of Congress and NCP and increasingly behaving like a ‘Burqa Sena’.
“Shiv Sena is increasingly behaving like a Burqa Sena…..The name Shiv Sena today sounds a misnomer,” BJP spokesman and MP GVL Narasimha Rao told reporters here.
“Uddhav party has changed….I do not want to call him a ‘Thackeray’ too as Thackeray represented a particular ideology,” Mr Rao said.
“Mr Uddhav has now sacrificed saffron for clothing his ideology in Burqa,” he accused.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister and former BJP chief Amit Shah paid tributes to Bal Thackeray on his birth anniversary and tweeted to remind everyone that he had “never compromised with his ideals”.
“Remembering Balasaheb Thackeray Ji on his Jayanti. Balasaheb Ji was a brilliant intellect of his time, always mesmerised the masses with his oratory skills. He always stood firm and never compromised with his ideals, Balasaheb Ji’s life and his values will continue to inspire us,” Mr Shah tweeted.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to Twitter to pay homage to the Shiv Sena founder.
Sena has been BJP’s first regional partner but Uddhav Thackeray-led outfit parted ways from NDA in November 2019 and joined hands with NCP and Congress to form a new government in Maharashtra.
