Panaji: Special Shramik Express Train no 05052 departed from Madgaon Railway Station for Guwahati in Assam carrying 1417 passengers on board on Thursday.
The passengers who boarded on the train were stranded in Goa due to ongoing nationwide lock down. Those stranded passengers travelling by Shramik Express train to their native places thanked the Goa Government for making adequate arrangements for their travelling.
So far, 81,903 passengers have been sent back to their respective places by 58 numbers of Special Shramik Express Trains.
All passengers were provided with Food packets, water bottles and other essential items before boarding the train.
Special Care was given to pregnant women, elderly persons, and children during the boarding procedure. Social distancing at the station and inside the trains, compulsory wearing of face masks and maintaining hygiene were ensured.
Trains and coach interiors were thoroughly sanitized and cleaned for maintaining hygienic travel conditions for passengers. Coaches were provided with liquid soaps for maximum cleanliness during the journey. The Railway Protection Force team escorted the passengers, for a smooth and hassle-free train journey.
The entire operation was monitored by District Magistrate South Goa Ajit Roy, under overall supervision of Kunal, IAS, Nodal officer for Inter State Movement Cell.
