Ponda police have booked six locals for allegedly assaulting a scrapyard owner at Usgao Tisk on Sunday. The injured victim has been admitted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) for treatment.
Ponda PSI Sachin Lokare said the scrapyard owner Balraj Ramesh Dodamani, 27, a resident of Usgao, was standing near the PDA market at Usgao Tisk on Sunday morning when a group of six persons came to him and assaulted Dodamani with blows and wooden batons.
On seeing that his brother was being assaulted, the victim’s brother Yallappa rushed to rescue Balraj. Seeing Yallapa coming, all the accused ran away from the scene, PSI Lokare said.
Balraj was immediately rushed to Ponda’s ID Hospital which later referred him to GMC as he had severe head injuries, the police officer added.
Police told TOI that they have booked Anant Gaude, Krishna Gaude, Ankush Gaude, Prasad Gaude, Dilip Gaude and Sanjay Ghadi under Sections 143, 147, 148 (rioting), 324 (grievous injury), 506 II (threat), read with 149 (common object) of the Indian Penal Code.
However, until late Sunday evening nobody was arrested in connection with the case. Police said the offence is bailable and the accused will be arrested soon. PSI Lokare is investigating the case.
